Terms and conditions for the adult kayaking course

TERMS AND CONDITIONS GOVERNING THE ORGANIZATION OF THE KAYAKING COURSE

  1. Equipment Included in the Course

The fee for the kayaking course includes the use of a kayak, paddle, spray skirt, and life jacket for the duration of the course. Normal wear and tear and damage to the kayak and equipment provided to course participants during instruction are covered by the club’s instructional activities.

  1. Course Schedule

The kayaking course is organized according to the schedule posted on our club’s website, but deviations may occur, for example, due to weather conditions. Any changes are made for reasons related to the safety of course participants. The course schedule is the same for all participants.

  1. Insurance

Helsingin Kanoottiklubi ry has liability insurance covering its operations. The club does not insure course participants or their personal belongings.

  1. Personal Injury and Property Damage Occurring During the Course

A course participant must immediately notify the instructor of any physical injury sustained or damage to equipment they are using.

  1. Impact of Weather Conditions on Course Activities

The club reserves the right, at its discretion, to deviate from the course program or cancel an entire course day due to weather conditions that would jeopardize the safety or comfort of course participants. If a course day must be canceled for the reason mentioned above, participants will be offered a make-up session as permitted by the club’s course schedule for the remainder of the season.

  1. The Club’s Right to Cancel a Course

The club may cancel a kayaking course listed in the course calendar if the number of people registered for the course is fewer than ten. The club will notify participants if a course must be canceled and will, as a priority, offer them a spot in another course. If the new time does not work, the club will refund the full course fee.

  1. Registering for a course

Registration for canoeing courses is done through our website, and spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

  1. Changing the course time or day

The club will endeavor to accommodate a participant’s well-founded requests to reschedule the course time or date, provided this can be arranged in conjunction with other courses.

  1. Payment of the Course Fee

The course fee must be paid to the club’s designated bank account within five banking days of registration. The payment must be made using the reference number provided at the time of registration.

If the course fee has not been credited to the club’s account within five banking days, the course registration will be canceled without separate notification from the club.

  1. Personal Equipment

Course participants are responsible for their own paddling gear. The club is not liable for any gear getting wet, damaged, or lost. The club does not provide lockable lockers included in the course fee, but there is a shared storage area for participants’ gear.

  1. Course Cancellation

If you wish to cancel your registration for our course after paying the registration fee, we will charge a cancellation fee of 30 euros. A refund of the course fee requires the submission of a doctor’s note or a certificate from your employer stating that you are unable to work.

  1. Withdrawal from the Course

The course fee will not be refunded if a participant withdraws from the course or is unable to attend on all scheduled days. In such cases, the club will endeavor to offer an alternative course date as permitted by the club’s remaining course schedule for the season.

  1. Health-Related Restrictions

By registering for the course, the participant confirms that they have reviewed the contraindications for canoeing published on the club’s website, as well as any factors that may limit their ability to participate in the activity.

  1. Personal Data Registry

The club retains online course registrations until the last day of the current canoeing season. This information may be used, for example, for communication, training development, and statistical analysis related to future marketing of the club’s activities.

At the start of the course, personal data necessary for instruction during the course is collected from participants using a separate form. The form can be viewed here. The data will be destroyed no later than the end of the current canoeing season.
